Dominique

Dominique hatching eggs

Called "Dominecker" by some, this breed has deep roots in American history. Some say they were derived from strains brought to America by the Pilgrims, but no concrete evidence supports this.

In 1849 rose combed barred chickens became recognized under the name Dominique. However evidence shows the breed existed long before then.

Known as an excellent free ranger these birds are easy to keep especially in colder climates. The breed is unfortunately becoming endangered  because less birds are being bred today.
