Orpington hatching eggs
Orpington chickens originated in the United Kingdom and are named after the city of Orpington, England. They are a good dual purpose bird although their rich colors have made them popular as show birds.
Hens are broody and because they are a heavy breed and not a good flyer they make an excellent backyard bird. They have a rounded appearance and are full feathered. Hens are very good layers and are capable of laying up to 200 or more eggs per year. Hens typically are deep breasted and make very good mothers. The eggs are medium to large light brown, and the hens are somewhat vocal. They are also well suited to cold climate conditions.
